International. Tattoo. Academy
The ITA is currently not accepting applications as there are no more spaces for the 2013 / 2014 academic year
How is this different?
ITA only accepts those who are committed to the art. The application and interview process is extremely rigorous. Students will be training directly with the top artists. Specific styles and techniques are taught throughout – allowing students to develop their own areas of specialty. The curriculum is, without question, demanding
Why can’t I study this myself?
Taking the initiative and exploration of art is exactly the attitude ITA fosters. For this reason research, personal study and presentations form a significant section of the program. However, there are also months of direct of instruction through practical application. The curriculum has been designed to walk students through the art, its history, design principles that govern all works, practical application, communication and management skills, physiology and numerous other fields not currently explored in any other program. Students are of course highly encouraged to use these sections in the ITA program as a stepping stone towards their own studies. Yet the purpose of the course is an eclectic foundational education that, quite simply, does not exist outside of the ITA course
Why does tattooing require a Masters course?
When properly understood and applied tattoos hold as much, if not more, meaning and value as any culturally recognized or accepted work of art. We do not propagate the negative stereotype of tattooing being an underground practice. Tattooing deserves the same respect and appreciation as all traditionally studied forms of artistic creation. It has, up to now, just not been viewed in the same light. Tattoo Temple and the ITA are engaged in the advancement of the art of tattooing
